ecospecifier.ae's aim is to help building professionals including architects, designers, builders and specifiers implement the Directives of the Rulers of Dubai and Abu Dhabi in relation to Green Building Standards.
In doing so, the ecospecifier.ae team congratulate the far-sightedness of the Rulers in their movement towards a more sustainable natural environment and more healthy indoor environments following their ground-breaking Directives:
His Highness Sheikh Mohammed Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice-President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai in Oct 2007 mandated that as of the 1st January 2008 “builders and developers of residential and commercial buildings in Dubai must comply with internationally recognised green building standards that meet the demands of best practices and benchmarks of pollution-free sustainable development.”
Under the directives of their Highnesses Sheikh Khalifa Bin Zayed Al Nahyan, the President and Ruler of Abu Dhabi and Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi and Deputy Supreme Commander of the Armed Forces, the Environment Agency – Abu Dhabi (EAD) Sustainable Development underpins the Abu Dhabi 2030 Plan and auspices the delivery in March 2008 of an Abu Dhabi Green Buildings Rating tool to ensure new buildings reduce maintenance costs in the long term, reduce negative health effects as well as energy and water consumption.
Additional to congratulating the Rulers, ecospecifier also assists the implementation of their Directives by both simplifying the selection process AND improving the quality and availability of information about Green Materials.
Ecological and health-preferred materials are integral to Best Practice Green Building Rating Scheme benchmarking and implementation and ecospecifier.ae makes it cost effective to research, locate, specify and purchase them.
Our broader aim is to help create a more sustainable natural environment by increasing the use of environmentally preferable and healthy products, materials and design processes.
Designers today need to be mindful of the up and downstream implications of decisions in an economic, legal and ecological sense.
A range of new standards, including LEED, BREEAM and the Abu Dhabi Green Rating Tool, are assisting companies deliver best practice, measurable internationally accepted benchmarks in the UAE and ecospecifier.ae will assess products against them all within 2008.
