ENERGY

Ene 1 – Reduction of CO2 emissions

Product is likely to assist in a project obtaining credits as it demonstrates an improvement in the energy efficiency of a building’s systems and therefore achieves lower operational related CO2 emissions.  Number of points awarded is dependent on percentage improvement over the established baseline

Points Available

15

Ene 2 – Sub-metering of substantial energy uses

Product is likely to assist in a project obtaining this credit as it provides accessible energy sub-metering and sub-meters have a pulsed output to enable connection to a Building Management System (BMS).

Points Available

1

Ene 3 – Sub-metering of high energy load and tenancy areas

Product is likely to assist in a project obtaining this credit as it provides accessible energy sub-metering to all tenanted or relevant function areas.

Points Available

Ene 5 – Low or zero carbon(LZC) technologies

Product is likely to assist in a project obtaining credits as it is a LZC energy technology recognized under BERR and is installed on-site or near-site.  Full points are available when the technology results in a minimum of a 15% reduction in the building’s CO2 emissions.

Ene 6 - Building fabric performance and acoidance of air infiltration

Product is likely to assist in a project obtaining credit as it provides a means of minimising heat loss and air infiltration through the building fabric.

Ene 7 – Cold storage

Product is likely to assist in a project obtaining credits as it provides a technology to increase the energy efficiency of cold storage systems.  One credit point deals with the ability of the system to monitor operational variables, the next deals with minimised energy consumption in operation, and the third point  can be achieved where heat recovery, free cooling or thermal storage are implemented.  Points are mutually exclusive and can be awarded independently.

Ene 8 – Lifts

Product is likely to assist in a project obtaining credits as it contributes to the increased energy efficiency of lifts.  The second point refers to the specification of energy saving technology and is only available upon achievement of the first point which deals with analysis of transport demand and specification of the lowest energy consumption lift strategy fit for the purpose.

Points Available

Ene 9 – Escalators & travelling walkways

Product is likely to assist in a project obtaining this credit as it provides a technology to achieve the criteria of reducing unnecessary operation when there is no passenger demand on escalators and travelling walkways.

Ene 15 – Provision of energy efficient equipment

Product is likely to assist in a project obtaining credits as it meets the prescribed energy rating under the EU Energy Efficiency Labelling Scheme.  The first point is available for fridges and fridge-freezers have an A+ rating.  The second point is available where washing machines and dishwashers have a minimum A rating and washer-dryers or tumble dryers have a B rating or better.
