INDOOR ENVIRONMENT QUALITY

 

 

EQ Prerequisite 1: Minimum IAQ Performance

Product may assist a project meet minimum indoor air quality (IAQ) performance requirements in accordance to the prescribed Sections 4 through 7 of the nominated standard for Ventilation for Acceptable Indoor Air Quality. Mechanical ventilation systems must be designed using the Ventilation Rate Procedure or the local applicable code (whichever is more stringent). Naturally ventilated buildings must also comply with a separate nominated standard.

EQ Credit 2: Increased Ventilation

Product may assist in a project obtaining this credit for increasing outdoor air ventilation. To achieve credit point mechanically ventilated spaces must increase breathing zone outdoor air ventilation rates to all occupied spaces by at least 30% above the minimum rates required by the nominated standard as determined by EQ Prerequisite 1. Naturally ventilated spaces must be designed to the credit prescribed requirements.

EQ Credit 4.1: Low-Emitting Materials: Adhesives and Sealants

Product is likely to assist in a project obtaining this credit as it meets the prescribed standards for the relevant adhesive/s and/or sealant/s.

EQ Credit 4.2: Low-Emitting Materials: Paints and Coatings

Product is likely to assist in a project obtaining this credit as it meets the prescribed standard/s for interior paint/s and/or coating/s applied on-site.

EQ Credit 4.3: Low Emitting Materials: Carpet Systems

Product is likely to assist in a project obtaining this credit as it meets one of the following requirements; the Carpet and Rug Institute’s Green Label Plus testing and product requirements for carpet, the Carpet and Rug Institute Green Label program for carpet cushion, the EQ Credit 4.1:VOC limit of 50g/L for carpet adhesives and/or is FloorScore certified for non-carpet finished flooring*.

*FloorScore is an alternative compliance pathway for non-carpet finished flooring established by a USGBC CIR ruling (10/17/2006). To achieve credit point using this option 100% of the non-carpet finished flooring must be FloorScore certified and represent a minimum of 25% of the finished floor area.

EQ Credit 4.4: Low Emitting Materials: Composite Wood & Agrifiber Products

Product is likely to assist in a project obtaining this credit as it contains no added urea-formaldehyde. This credit applies to composite wood and agrifiber products as well as laminating adhesives.

EQ Credit 4.4 Note 1: Low Emitting Materials: Composite Wood & Agrifiber Products

Product is likely to assist in a project obtaining this credit as it contains no added urea-formaldehyde. This credit applies to composite wood and agrifiber products as well as laminating adhesives.

Product is likely to assist in a project obtaining this credit as it provides thermal and/or ventilation control for individual occupants and specific tenant groups.

Product is likely to assist in a project obtaining this credit, when appropriately designed in combination with other elements, such that the project complies with ASHRAE Standard 55-2004 Thermal Comfort Conditions for Human Occupancy.

EQ Credit 8.1: Daylight & Views: Daylight 75% of Spaces

Product is likely to assist in a project obtaining this credit for maximising interior daylighting. Credit point is achieved when the prescribed requirements for one of the three following options are met; where 75% of all regularly occupied areas achieve a minimum glazing factor of 2%, or using a computer simulation model a result of 25 footcandles in a minimum of 75% of all regularly occupied areas is achieved, or demonstrate through records of indoor light measurements a result of 25 footcandles in a minimum of 75% of all regularly occupied areas is achieved.

EQ Credit 8.2: Daylight & Views: Views for 90% of Spaces

Product is likely to assist in a project obtaining this credit for maximising interior daylighting.

 

Exemplary Performance: Innovation in Design & Process: Daylight and Views (additional 1 point)

A project may be eligible for an Innovation in Design & Process for this credit, however there is no threshold for determination of exemplary performance.
