IEQ Prerequisite 1: Minimum IAQ Performance

Product may assist a project meet minimum indoor air quality (IAQ) performance requirements in accordance to the prescribed Sections 4 through 7 of nominate standard for ASHRAE Standard 62.1-2007, Ventilation for Acceptable Indoor Air Quality.

 

Case 1: Mechanical ventilation systems must be designed using the Ventilation Rate Procedure or the local applicable code (whichever is more stringent).

 

Case 2: Naturally ventilated buildings must also comply with ASHRAE Standard 62.1-2007, Paragraph 5.1

IEQ Credit 1: Outdoor Air Delivery Monitoring

To obtain this credit a project must install permanent monitoring systems to ensure that ventilation systems maintain design minimum requirements when CO2 levels vary more than 10% for mechanically and naturally ventilated spaces in accordance with prescribed requirements.

IEQ Credit 2: Increased Ventilation

Product may assist in a project obtaining this credit for increasing outdoor air ventilation. To achieve credit point mechanically ventilated spaces must increase breathing zone outdoor air ventilation rates to all occupied spaces by at least 30% above the minimum rates required by ASHRAE Standard 62.1-2007 as determined by IEQ Prerequisite 1. Naturally ventilated spaces must be designed to the credit prescribed requirements.

Product is likely to assist in a project obtaining this credit as it provides occupant lighting control. Credit point is achieved when lighting control is provided for at least 90% of occupants and 100% of shared multi-occupant spaces.

IEQ Credit 6.2: Controllability of Systems: Thermal Comfort

Product is likely to assist in a project obtaining this credit as it provides individual comfort control for 50% of occupants and comfort controls for all shared multi occupant spaces, operable windows may be used in lieu of controls meetings ASHRAE Standard 62.1-2007 paragraph 5.1 Natural Ventilation in accordance with prescribed standards.

IEQ Credit 7.1: Thermal Comfort: Design

Product is likely to assist in a project obtaining this credit, when appropriately designed in combination with other elements, such that the project complies with ASHRAE Standard 55-2004, Thermal Comfort Conditions for Human Occupancy with Section 6.1.1 documentation.

Product is likely to assist in a project obtaining this credit by contributing in combination with other suitable systems towards a permanent monitoring system to ensure that comfort criteria as determined by IEQ Credit 7.1: Thermal Comfort—Design is met in accordance with the prescribed requirements.

IEQ Credit 8.1: Daylight & Views - Daylight

Product is likely to assist in a project obtaining this credit for maximising interior daylighting. Credit point is achieved when the prescribed requirements for one of the four following options are met for 75% of regularly occupied spaces;

 

Option 1 – Simulation: demonstrate through computer simulation that achieve

daylight illuminance levels of a minimum of 25 footcandles (fc) and a maximum of 500 fc in a clear sky conditionin accordance with prescribed requirements

 

Option 2 – Prescriptive: Use a combination of side-lighting and/or top-lighting to achieve a total daylighting zonein accordance with prescribed requirements.

 

Option 3 – Measurement: Demonstrate through records of indoor light measurements that a minimum daylight illumination level of 25 fc has been achieved in accordance with prescribed requirements

 

Option 4 – Combination: Any of the above calculation methods may be combined to document the minimum daylight illumination in accordance with prescribed requirement.

IEQ Credit 8.2: Daylight & Views - Views

Product is likely to assist in a project obtaining this credit for maximising interior daylighting for 90% of all regularly occupied areas. Credit point is achieved when a direct line of sight to the exterior environment via glazing between 30 and 90 inches thick above the finish floor is provided in accordance with the prescribed requirements.
