Product Description:

CSM Mobile Shelving Systems are suitable for a range applications including large scale off-site storage to smaller scale on-site commercial storage. The systems are specifically designed to individual project requirements and are available in three main system types;

• Lite Track – for small scale commercial applications where floors are level
• Self Based – for light to medium commercial storage requiring a level floor
• Fixed Track – for large scale and industrial applications.

CSM Systems Shelving is a low VOC powder coated modular shelving system that is able to be customised to meet specific project storage requirements.  The system consists of an initial shelving bay with the option of adding multiple adjoining bays that fit securely together. The systems are assembled on-site and are able to disassembled and reconfigured to suit changeable storage requirements.

Both products are available in a range of size and shelving configurations and accessories for storage of standard archival items such as lateral files, data cartridges, CDs, through to specialised fittings for unusual equipment and products.

ecospecifier Issues of Concern / Red Lights

The products use zinc/iron alloy-coated steel for the carcass of the products. The steel surface is treated using hexavalent chromium compounds. This treatment provides resistant to corrosion and acts as primer for surface finishing (i.e. painting). Hexavalent chromium (chromium VI) is recognised as a Group 1 agent, carcinogenic to humans (International Agency for Research on Cancer, IARC).

Additionally, the primer used for timber components contains a small percentage (2 – 5.5%) of Butyl glycol which is harmful by inhalation.

However, as the products are supplied prefinished the risks relate specifically to the manufacturing stage of the products. Appropriate preparation and operation measures in the manufacture of the products will mitigate the risk of potential hazards, such that in accordance with an ecospecifier Risk Assessment no further comment is required.
